The Course
The make-up artist profession is very extensive. It therefore depends on the individual trainee's interest as to how good his/her knowledge and skills will be at the end of the education. The make-up artist school with its training concept creates the most favourable conditions for your success.
In the area of hairstyling you will learn: Haircutting, day- and evening hairstyles, Up-do hairstyles and professional usage of hair-pieces. The creation of historical hairstyles is intensively practised with your model's own hair and wigs. Designing for the character and individual and the actors appropriate role changes are exercised and explained thoroughly.
With hair work for men you will learn how to create and attach moustaches, side-whiskers, goatee beards, full beards, hair toupees and wigs. You will also learn how to make the hair pieces and attaching seem natural and realistic.
With hair work for women you will learn how to create lady's wigs, the hair-braiding and the creation of hair-pieces and plaits. Also in the subject lady's hair you will learn how to professionally work with hair substitutes and false hair.
The greatest change to an actor's appearance is done via the hair.
With Beauty Make-up you will continually learn more and more about face-modeling, the creation of different eye forms, working withthe mouth and creative make-up. Further you will also discover the typical styles of make-up over the different eras with the main emphasis being the 20th century.
Theatrical Make-up includes the anatomical change of the face with the help of make-up like e.g. the skull, old-age make-up, character make-up, animal make-up and what is typical between different cultures.
Particular emphasis is placed on Face-Forming: 3-D Makeup. This includes the creation of noses and face parts made of latex, gelatine and foam parts as individual topics. Equally intensively mediated is the construction of wounds, scars etc.
An art teacher teaches you how to draw "figurinen" and portraits. You will also be able to create several masks, head construction and an animal head. Furthermore our art historian will help give you a better understanding of the different arts epochs by museum visits.
Since 2004 airbrushing has been included into the curriculum of the 3rd year of training.
